White FlagA Poem by JenThis thing is kind of all over the place, but it speaks of seeing everything in a different way. Ending the civil war in our minds. Enjoy.
We're our own biggest critics
Always at war with what we are And what we're told we should be This here, is a message to the man I'm wavin' a white flag And there's not a damn thing you can do When you look in the mirror, Taking a beating from societies misconceptions If only you could see what I see I see a a fighter, a love fighter Fighting for the love in the world Rightfully your own I see a masterpiece, in the making Travelling through time, through space A race through my mind. I see strength, beyond any body builder Strength of the heart, the mind, the soul I see the beauty, young, yet old An old soul reaches out to another, Desperately clinging to their lost youth Their beauty lost in a world where perfection Is nowhere to be found by the eyes of most My eyes are not tainted By the word of 'the man' I see things for what they are, And if you take my hand, You'll see it too So let's all wave a white flag In the civil war in our minds Let's see what truths we can find. © 2013 Jen |
