Dark BloodA Story by KatDelahney is trying to get through school, when she meets Uriah, a Fiery assigned to her since birth.Dark Blood
So here we are again, waiting for my next failed art assignment, wishing I could be anywhere else in the world. Instead I get to have my arse glued to a stool anxiously awaiting for Miss Hall to give me my project with a big red E over top of it. My red hair drowned my face as I put my head down, averting my blue eyes from everyone else in the classroom. I'm really busy trying to be as unnoticeable as possible when I see a dazed and completely unaware Miss Hall walks over to me and drones, “good job Delahney, you deserve this.” She hands me my sunset project with a capital blue A on it.
What? An A? No way, I can understand a D maybe even a C or a C+ but an A was just completely just . . . not right. I watch as her blonde head walked around the corner of the classroom and into the hallway. Getting up, I followed her to a black door I hadn't ever seen before.
“Um . . . Miss Hall . . . ?” I stammered through my sentences, hoping to God I would get a response that went something like, “oh yes Alex ill be out in a second!” but I didn’t, neither did I think what was behind that black door was a just another classroom. A loud colourful purple flash went off inside the room. Getting no response, I try to open the door quietly, but once I saw what was inside the door shut loudly behind me.
Inside of this strange room was a portal. No, you heard me right, a full blown portal. Well that's what it looked like anyway, it was about the size of a bookshelf and was all blue and black looking. Did Miss Hall really go into that thing? No way, she's supposed to be the responsible, arse of an art teacher, not the dazed, strange speaking, portal finding old woman I've seen this morning.
Okay, okay, calm down, just. Calm. Down. Okay, think this through logically, okay? I'm either hallucinating or I'm asleep, well I cant be asleep since I can think like this, and completely control my movements. The scene isn’t changing constantly either. So . . . what? I'm saying this is real?
Alright. Just breathe. I need to just breathe now. Okay. Okay. Right when I'm about to exit the room and ask to go home, a voice, rough and male comes from the corner of the room.
“Well, this is quite the sight. What an inquisitive little human you are. May I ask your name, little human?” Awesome, so now not only am I hallucinating portals and A's on my projects but an unbelievably hot male who calls me an inquisitive little human has now made his way into my imagination. “Are you real? What's going on? And what on Earth is this thing?” I stumble across my sentences like I don't know what words are.
“Lots of questions for a little thing like you, yes I am real little human, what's going on? Well, little human, you have stumbled into a room that you were never supposed to find, courtesy of your clueless teacher, and little human, this is a bio-matter portal to my dimension. I asked your name, I would advise you give it to me. Or ill take it from you.” How is he going to take my name from me? I did not want to find out anyway. “Delahney. My name is Delahney Kaniva. Now you.” I wasn't asking, at this moment, around this guy, I felt a surge of power, like I could destroy him in two seconds flat. This new energy was strange to me. I liked it.
“ Uriah Adair. Little human, I am your fiery, I have been assigned to you since you were born. You turned fifteen three days ago yes?” I was to confused to say anything, so I tried to say yes but I made a noise that sounded like I was choking on a hair tie. I clear my throat. “Um, yes, yeah.”
Uriah stepped out of the shadowed corner and into the light so I got a better look at his features. Black hair going into a striking blonde, tanned skin and . . . holy crap, his eyes . . . they were an electric red. He was like an amazingly hot version of the Devil. Wow.
Uriah brought his hand out of his pocket and pulled out a little velvet box. “Happy birthday Delahney.” He smile's at me and hands me the box. “Oh, you didn't need to get me anything, I got heaps already,” I say, handing the box back. He steps back. “No you didn't, your family forgot, I was there. I know.” exactly how much has Uriah seen? Accepting the box, I smile, my blue eyes bright. Inside the box was a sparkly deep green little tree attached to a silver chain. It was beautiful. “Thank you.” he looked at me with his red eyes, filled with hope. “Why were you assigned to me anyway?” I ask. “Little human, you are more powerful then you think. You are the solution to a war that has been going on in my dimension for three hundred and eighty four years. You are what the people in my dimension call a Tenebris Sanguine.” “A what?” “Its Latin for Dark Blood. Delahney, you have the power to control any darkness, any shadow, any evil. But most people with this power only have this power, the blood part of your equation means you can also manipulate blood. You can cripple anyone within seconds by making their blood boil, or move their body anyway you want.
“You are dangerous, and pretty much every Dark Blood is killed. But I took an interest in you. So now I serve you. I, Uriah Adair, a fiery, bind myself to Delahney Kaniva the Dark Blood Queen. Oh, yeah I forgot to mention, your the only one left of your kind. Your the queen of your people, who are hidden over the world, we need to find them, bring them to you and raise an army to defeat the Winter Kingdom and let peace rain over the Alani dimension.”
To anyone else this would be a lot to take in, but considering what I've seen today, I was ready.
“Where do we start looking for these people?” “Your people, my queen.” “My people.” “Well, I would guess unwanted people live in unwanted areas, so, probably in the KillJoy Kingdom. Through the portal, your majesty.”
