Rainstorms and Radiance

Rainstorms and Radiance

A Poem by Jenna Kay

"If I was a kind of weather, what would I be?"
He replied instantly, no questions asked
"You would be a bright summer day, with the sun shining and the clearest blue sky. You would be the kind of day that makes a person want to stay outside for hours."
I was flattered
I saw myself as a hurricane
"You would be the day after a storm," I responded
"But when the rain is just barely dripping off the trees, and the ground is still damp. But it's warm. And you just want to sit outside and read and drink a cup of coffee. It's comforting."
I reflected upon this a moment
Then I added, "And the sun is peeking through the clouds. It's hopeful."
"Thank you," he said simply
And I was content
Because he saw me as a sky blue while the only thing I could see was stormy grey
