I'm Cheating On Life With Sleep

I'm Cheating On Life With Sleep

A Poem by Jenna Kay

I'm cheating on Life with Sleep
Life was once young and beautiful, taking me by the hands and whispering sweetly
"Look at all I have to offer you"
And my body melted into the warmth of her embrace
But one day, the light burned too bright in my eyes
And closing them to the world, I found a refreshing darkness
Now I take my time to savor the black kisses of Sleep, and to lay in her arms as long as day will let me
And when Life beckons, I slip a little farther under my blankets and ignore all of her voice mails
