Little Girl

Little Girl

A Poem by Jenna Harding

Little girl, dry your eyes

And pick yourself off of the ground.

Little girl, you’ll be alright.

Because you have to be.

Little girl, grazed hands and knees

Simple flesh wounds

They appear to be.

But do they fester deep within?

The memory of the wounds,

The infliction, will fade to oblivion

Little girl. But the wound lingers

The painless reminder.

Little girl, they’ll never know

Because, little girl, you never show.

Although it’s hell, you’ll never tell

That your soul is slowly dying.
