Lighthouse to Harbour

Lighthouse to Harbour

A Poem by Jenna Harding

                            Lighthouse to Harbour

Alone I stand, gazing out upon as yet

Uncharted waters.

I am a ship. A hand rests gently at my helm,

The unseen force set to guide me

Along my course.

God? Or something else?

An inner compass built into the mast.

Can I trust it to aid me in reaching my destination?

To withstand stormy weathers, monstrous waves,

Howling winds that threaten to blow me from my path?

Will the ship emerge intact at the end?

Or will it drift away,

Be dashed on sharp, unforgiving rocks.

Be destroyed?
