Stripped Away

Stripped Away

A Poem by Jenna

Found out today,
Someone I hold dear,
Her innocence stripped away,
Taken away
What was rightfully hers.
She got married,
The white no longer for purity,
Because he had stripped it away.
Her purity,
Her honesty.
Her innocence stripped away.

Author's Note

Jenna
I wrote this after my cousin told me she was raped. Finding out she had it stripped away from her was difficult for me to accept, especially since she just got married this month. Only her husband and I know, though it happened about 2 years ago. Thankfully, her husband understands.

I don't know. In this new world. Sex is not the great gift of marriage. It is the binding of two people into one life and goal. Poem had a interesting theory. I waited 37 years to get marry. I decided life was no fun alone and I'm glad I did. Poor wife may feel not so content. Purity. honesty and innocence is something hard to hold on to. A powerful poem. You made me think.

An intriguing perspective you wrote this poem from, because at first, when you say that a girl got "her innocence stripped away," I automatically think rape. But when you brought in the fact she got married, it intrigued me. Never heard anyone look at marriage this way before.

Wow, this is very raw and convincing, powerful and real. In form, style is expressed in essense, thats what makes this an excellent poem,
keep it up.
