Relief

Relief

A Poem by Sway
"

Thoughts that spilled out watching the news

"
The fragility of this life is wearing
Our lives constantly bound and tangled by the mundane
We wake, we work, we eat, we sleep
Are we as people happy?
Deep in recession, there is no work
For those who are blessed to actually have a job
work too hard for way too little
Hard working people who can't make ends meet
Families torn apart by strife that was never their doing
"Too big to fail" was the answer
Stretching the common to their breaking point
Most haven't the ability to do what is most important
Play, laugh, spend time with those we love
Suffering in the land of the free
What happened to us
Forgotten values, abandoned beliefs
For what?
The all mighty dollar

People desperate for caring
For the upper echelon to show compassion
But alas as it is in the real world
There is no relief

Humanitarians helping those who live abroad
Our country can not feed their own
Yet we feel the need to help, feed, clothe and maintain others who are our enemy
 What about our own nation?
What about our own people?

We need help
Not more taxes
Not more heartache

We don't want a handout
We just want
"The American Dream"
