you failed me

you failed me

A Poem by Sway

you failed me

there are no words

for the lament that

I feel.

the distance is palpable

an unapproachable horizon

of nothingness

your absolute lack of empathy

like a tourniquet cutting me in half

your apathy apparent

to be so stupid

to think for a second

that you had the capacity

to feel

to think my purpose for you was

anything more

than it actually was

your abhorrent disregard

for what was right in front of you

to have given you so much

with no distinguishable reaction

once to be a friend

and now

to be nothing

do you know what you did?

do you know how used i feel

you hurt me in a way

that only you could

in the past I have served myself well

to never have expectation

and yet I set myself up

again and again

to be let down

over and over

by you

lesson learned.

never again

will I feel the sting

of your melancholy disposition

We only hurt the ones we love most it seems, take them for granted, so many things I would do differently in my life, the problem with never showing your hurt is that they never get a chance to repair, when people love they repair I guess, some not, this was very moving. well done.
