With One Strawberry

With One Strawberry

A Poem by Jen Marie

Guilt brought me to the Garden of Eden

Temptation found me there

I gave in to the serpent

And lay down at the mercy of fate

I was picked from the vine

Without a chance to be properly ripened

Now I am discarded

And have nothing but shame to follow me

With one strawberry I lost myself

And gained nothing but Sorrow

And when the season changed to dead colors

I buried the past and carried my scar

I am forever haunted with a bond

That chases me from happiness

Even as I walk to new beginnings

I still hope to find my Eden again
