A difference in death

A difference in death

A Poem by Jen_ma_cat

What are dreams?
Goals? Achievements?
To achieve your dream
Seems to be the ultimate goal
In life
But it doesn't make a difference
To death

We all die
Dreams achieved or not
So what's the difference
Between my life and yours
If everybody follows the path
Of death

Some paths my seems to
Sparkle more with
Faux jewels and furs
While other paths are rimmed
With dried up mud
Some are a little shorter
Some are a little longer
Some hardly have a chance to begin

Paths can change too
Sometimes for the best
And sometimes for the worst
But the still lead
To the same place
Destiny

There is once certainty in life
Death
We strive for security in certainty
When it does not portray to death
Our only certainty
We for some reason
Fear?

All our lives we follow our dreams
But our dreams won't matter in death
So what's the point?
Of dreaming?
Looking up at the stars
And catching a glance at a shooting stare
Closing your eyes too mumble some wish
What does it matter?

Yesterday an old women died
Before death she kissed her children
Closed her eyes
Thought of everything she
Had ever done in life
She followed her dreams
And went into that eternal slumber
Fearless

Yesterday and old man died
He had been fighting off death
For a while now
He was scared
He looked back on his life
He wanted to stay
To Finnish what he started, dreams
And for him, death came like
A black serpent in the night
Slyly creeping up

Your path is laid out for you
And so are you dreams
Your dreams, goals, achievements
Maybe they bring security
For the one certain thing in life
Each dream you conquer
The more ready you are for death

Cause every path leads to death
And somewhere along the way
We have to accept it

Sorry, if this is kinda weird. I don't know, I haven't written in a long time and I was just letting it flow out of me. Maybe I'm alone with my thought to much, haha.

This is something I do think about a lot, the lack of purpose in living, and a while ago I came to the conclusion that we, as individuals have no purpose if not to the human species, in this case, our meaning in life is simply to live and reproduce and leave once we're of no use - like for example when we're old - this is very depressing isn't? To cheer you up - or not - be aware that we as a species, hold meaning, look around the world, we're changing it, even after we're gone we'll leave a mark, even on the galaxy itself, although will that meaning mean something? Like how can we verify our meaning if we will never know the result(because we will be dead) - for this we'd have to accept there's something above this world - after death, not necessarily heaven or hell - that will allow us to do this, and having this in mind, "the life purpose" aspect is not so sad anymore, having this mind we could live for the mark we will leave on the world, a mark that perhaps will accompany mankind's mark. But what if death is the definitive end of existence? (we don't know this yet but lets suppose it is) Is there no purpose then? Maybe yes, maybe not, depends on what you feel about deluding yourself for the sake of your mind's stability, and I'll leave it there. If you're totally against deluding yourself, I personally believe there's no point in living. However, there's something that keeps us from killing ourselves isn't there? Good poem Jen ^^

Well I guess I'm a junior now. Am I ready? Ha, no. I don't post often, only when I feel inspired. I'm 16 years old and I might be the only 16 year old on the planet who wishes they weren't. I like art.. more..
