Yes, Life's Quite an Adventure

This is my effort at creating a poem from song titles of one band, namely Yes.

If you take a (roundabout) route

To the (heart of the sunrise)

And find yourself on the (south side of the sky)

(Yours is no disgrace).
(I’ve seen all good people) lose their way

And when they ask directions

Get only a (long distance runaround).

 

You may even find a kindred spirit

To accompany you on that road

And you won’t be the (owner of a lonely heart)

Because (love will find a way) somehow;

It always does.

 

If not, (hold on).

Whatever happens, surely at the end of the journey

We’ll have (wondrous stories) to tell.

(And you and I) will drink and laugh

And tell all our tales

Like (starship troopers)

Returned from adventures on distant worlds.

Actually, it was pretty easy; this almost composed itself once I began! It started out as a sort of game and then it occurred to me that the words made a statement about life, too. Thanks for the kind words.

I think this is really good, and does not feel forced at all, like some poems of this type might be. I would, however, in terms of form, change the parentheses to italics.

This started out as simply a fun game, but then I thought it had a little more to say about life in general. Actually, the contest required the song titles to be in parentheses (typically song titles are in quote marks and album titles in italics.)
