Love as I See It

Love as I See It

A Poem by Jennie Baron
"

This grew out of some discussion I've had in the past few days about the nature of love.

"

Some say true love doesn’t exist.

Some speak of it as a sweet, but quaint,

Outdated notion.

Some speak of love as a disease

An addiction

A codependent trap

In which we lose ourselves

Until there’s no longer a “me,” only “we.”

Some are looking for someone to “complete” them.

Others say love is the union of two already “complete” souls.

I say we shouldn’t overthink it.

I say if we wait to be self-actualized,

We’ll wait forever; at least I would!

We won’t know the joy of a love

That allows for give and take

For compromise

That gives both space to grow,

Because if you give just a little of yourself

You can get so much in return.

We won’t know the pleasure of having someone

Who knows us intimately and accepts us anyway,

Makes us feel secure,

The simple joy of having a companion

To share the good things in life.

Yes, you're absolutely right. Love's a sharing of "good" things in life. It shares both pain and pleasure; heat of spring & coldness of winter; emotions of heart & tears of eyes; faith in compassion & belief in "true-lies"... which're utmost truth, but still they ain't find it. Beautiful imagery you've come up with. Enjoyed reading your thought invoking poetry!

"Love as i See It"
Jennie Baron,
Real Love is very tenuous and can easily be taken for granted by the wrong person. Caution in accepting another into one's life is of utmost importance. When the right person is found it is good. But many, many people have come to live a nightmare by becoming involved with someone whom is dangerous in some or more ways. Love as I see it is a lovely reminder that love does exist and is accessible and should be treasured.
Blessings,
Kathy

Sharing the good things is meant to bring happiness. Sharing the loads can bring much needed relief. Sharing love completes the circle. Excellent. ....:))))

Jennie - Love isn't something you find, it's something that finds you. Two shopping carts in front of you in the supermarket. Jumping to avoid being splashed by the waves at the beach. He or she will be there they'll smile and by golly there you are. There is no time or place for it. It's not something that can be scheduled. I posted a short story The Picture that dealt with this "problem"? Perhaps you might be familiar with the song from the show South Pacific. Some Enchanted Evening is its' title.

Your welcome
Ah the nature of love...It probably feels very different for any one of us, it is very personal. And surely it cannot be 'understood' and therefor we should not overthink but just accept.

Your poem sounds very authentic, you have been there...Well done.

Giving without expecting anything in return always seems to have its benefits. I would agree we should never over-think it. Your last 2 lines seems to say what I am thinking. Good poem Jennie.

Sometimes you don't have to look. Sometimes love finds you. A face across a crowded room. A laugh that you hear over and over. You "bump" into each other and the aroma stays with you.
