Livin' the Dream

Livin' the Dream

A Poem by Jennie Baron
"

This is from my book and based on a partial lyric a songwriter character came up with. I tried to flesh it out and the goal was to make it still sound like a song.

"

You know I’ve dreamed half my life away

And crashed hard when the fantasy

Didn’t turn out like I hoped it’d be

But those times seem so far behind me

Since good fortune seemed to find me.

Always wanted to share my dreams with someone

Never thought I would till now.

Without love my other dreams had no meaning

Now I thank Heaven that we dream together

I’m still a dreamer but reality’s so much better with you

Baby let’s keep livin’ the dream forever.

Love and romance were always elusive

And maybe now I know why.

Fate simply had other plans for me.

Before your love I was alone and uninspired.

On my own, disillusioned in every endeavor.

I’m still a dreamer but reality’s better than a dream with you

Baby let’s keep livin’ this dream forever.

3 years ago, when I was new on WC, I wouldn't have been able to appreciate this poem enough. But now as I ve grown a bit, I can relate to it in a much better way! This poem has a very positive, and musical vibe to it. It makes me feel all fuzzy with romance and happiness!
Truly great writing! ♡♡

I appreciate your kind review, as always. This poem hasn't gotten as much traction as some the others but it is special to me. I like to say it's really my character's song and voice but I'm channeling it. The same is true of "Luminous."

"livin the Dream"
Jennie Baron,
Our dreams are very important and your poem gave a place for the pondering of this reality. Impressive to see you enjoy putting a song and it's subject into a real life song lived out.
This line was beautiful and showed the dream coming true:
"Always wanted to share my dreams with someone
Never thought I would till now.
Without love my other dreams had no meaning
Now I thank Heaven that we dream together."
Beautiful reality and a thankful voice rejoices.

Jennie: Loved it, what great flow and the first stanza sounds so relateable filled with regret. It's so well written (Got to get to your book) and so sweet uplifting and romatic. Livin' the Dream, how inspiring. To find someone to love and for it to be returned is the dream, without it life's a very sad place indeed - the composition has great rhythm like a song, but that's also great with a poem, like yours. You wrote a poem about love, without all those filler words, like I do; no clique here. Just love, baby love. Sweet, clever and I love it. Thanks so very much! Great writing. Dale

My pleasure: Jennie, it's 11:58 here, but Good Morning Sunshine!!! Dale
This old man of mush love a well written romantically inclined poem ... Came home to eat a bite of lunch and shall leave with thoughts of candlelight dinner with the ex-wife now with me again, for old flames never die, but simply await refueling one quiet romantic evening at a time ... Thank you for the inspiration ...

"Without love my other dreams had no meaning... " Yes, to make reality a better living, everyone has to make dreams - big dreams.. love-dreams. Your poetry speaks allot through words. Enjoyed reading your poetry.

Half of our life consists of dream, very true . So wisely observed by you . Dreams certainly beget illusions .
Loved the honesty in the write. The prose writer in you makes it so precise.

So heart felt, and dreams are better when you have someone to dream with and to share them with.
