She lies.
And she lies next to him.
He forgives her.
For she gives in
to his desires.
She cooks for him
She cleans for him
She changes for him
She cries to herself,
“What more can I do?”
and grievously grates her
heart against the glinting stone
on her third finger.
She lies.
And she lies next to him
“I am a woman of my word”
She whispers to the night
