The Pursuit Of Who We've Been

The Pursuit Of Who We've Been

A Poem by Jellyfish_Princess
"

A poem I wrote when I wasn't paying attention in class one day.

"

Let's keep moving straight ahead, and never looking back
It doesn't matter if we're going the right way or completely way off track.
We'll go somewhere far away where only the two of us know
And have many new things to see and many new places to go.
We may very well be caught, yes indeed we might
But it'll all be worth while if we put up a decent fight.

So take my hand and together we'll leap into the fires of Hell
Be truthful when I ask: "Will we make it", because I can no longer tell.

Back then they were all be filled with malice, but you and I just laughed
And now, quite frankly I'm trying to disregard the impending aftermath.
The world may be malevolent and oh so very crude outside
I'll be alright afterall, I'm with the person where the sunflowers reside.
We've changed a great deal, from being together
And our old selves we long ago tore to tethers.
And I'm not fed up yet with the mess we're in
But, refuse to raise a toast to the non-existent pursuit of who we've been.
Let's go now to the road that is no longer very far
Now, I'll raise a toast becuase we don't have to pursue who we are.
