lather, rinse repeatA Poem by Jen
day breaks on the top of my head again
knocking, knocking and asking "anyone home? anybody there?" no choice for me but to grunt and acknowledge that i am still in there routine in routine out lather, rinse repeat count to ten, do it again until one day, five, six, seven day breaks sideways and nudges you, quietly whispering in my ear "life, is a gift, life is yours", the day asks, "how much to you want it?" and that question is my closest companion tucking me in at night shaking me awake through the night serving my dinner, pouring me another glass of wine finally, the question is answered and once again, the day is dawning a kiss on my cheek renewed and i am awake alert and appreciating each new day all it takes is a pause when change nudges you, when possibility becomes an unwelcome companion © 2010 Jen |
