Look at us now

Look at us now

A Poem by Jeffah Iman Kauchape
"

Importance of communication. With nostalgic regret the recapitulation of a lover's pleas with the beloved in the hopes of curbing the demise of the relationship, to no avail.

"
Daily with you I pleaded
That 'communication' we needed
For the genuine love kneaded
Or rather, by us being kneaded
But my pleas sadly were not headed

Gradually the love I once felt faded
Of it could not make tail or head
Gently integrated, what we once shared
And yes, within I felt really sad
Was not even an ounce once glad

Giving up so soon though I dared not
Within hoping to untangle this knot
That had entangled our love once hot
Meanwhile willing to listen and be taught
By any once upon a time lover true or not
Ready to try any remedy I was, despairing not

Unfortunately I was putting effort alone
Yes noticed I you seemed quite at home
For minimal effort put you, just I 'lone
Yet the pressure piled more and more
'Till I could not bear it alone no more
With time gradually gave up: look at us now

Indeed what a pitiful sight to behold...
When lovers eventually strangers become!
And their hearts to another commit
