The Pain and The Bottle

The Pain and The Bottle

A Poem by Jeff

Losing myself in a battle

That never ends

Caught between the pain and the bottle

I can't seem to win

I can't seem to overcome the wounds

Mortal mental wounds

That will not heal

Deep in my soul

A hole that will never be filled

No amount of liquer will kill the pain

But it numbs the pain for a time

I drink too much

I live too little

I'm breaking down

And my soul is gone

I can't keep going

I need something to give

I need a new beginning

.
. brilliant poem ...
. one has to evolve into the person who can leave addiction ...
. that's a lot of hard work but people have done it ...
. i also have an addiction and am trying to get rid of it ... not by getting rid of it ... but all those other irritants in my life that drive me to it ...

I can feel the pain pouring out of this poem. You describe so well that level of pent up agony which has been compounded by wound after wound. There is a way forward if you are willing to take it. There always is. That is not just positive thinking clap trap! It is born out of my personal experience. The trouble is, we often close ourselves off from the necessary solution.
