Broken Friends

Broken Friends

A Poem by Jeff
"

Inspired by a "friend."

"

Not too long ago

I was your ear

We talked for hours

Reminisced about yesteryear

When you returned

You said we'd get together

Then you were gone

Disappeared into the void

Lost in the crowd

You reappeared

Out of the blue

I gave you my number

You gave me yours

And now nothing again

Is this how you treat a friend

Don't want to talk

I'm fine with that

Tell me and I'll understand

Life gets in the way

I understand

A simple “I'm busy”

Is better than ignore

. ah, you said it, jeff ... i wonder why people do that ... they suddenly surface from nowhere and then they disappear without a trace ... it's as if they disregard the existence of all others who exist ... this is brilliantly written ... and super relevant for our times ...

Sometimes I think friends come and go. Some never come back, some do. I have one that I've know since I was 6. For a long time we didn't communicate much, now we do, but it's so much harder to maintain friendships as adults. So many things pull at you that you didn't have to worry about as a child.
