No Surrender, No Retreat

No Surrender, No Retreat

A Poem by Jeff
"

The spark has returned.

"

I could have been

I would have been

If you had trust

If you had faith

Drowned by negativity

Surrounded by fear

Withdrew into myself

To withstand your attacks

I could not leave

I would not surrender

Fought a losing battle

A pointless war

Saw so much in you

That you never saw

Gave everything for you

That you could not return

Left me for dead

Committed the ultimate betrayal

Burned and pillaged my soul

Destroyed my heart

Could not break me

Will not be my last chapter

Strength is returning

Emotions are balancing

The fire has been lit

The spark has returned

. ah, am ecstatic and inspired, jeff ... your entire poem is brilliant ... but the last eight lines are particularly so ... that spark is worth a million beautiful dreams coming true ... thank you for making it this far, jeff ... i won't forget ... no surrender, no retreat ... and one day at a time ...
