Long Days, Quiet Nights

Long Days, Quiet Nights

A Poem by Jeff

Long days, Quiet nights

Nothing to look forward to

No one at home waiting for me

My love has gone away

She said she couldn't stay

Said she didn't love me the same

With her she took the kids

No more little smiles

No more waves from the window

The little games are over

They only come on the weekend

And that's never enough

It's too quiet when I awake

No kids waking me up

No smiling face from my Muse

The goodbye kisses are gone

No hugs from the kids

Lost to my memory
