I Can't Go To Sleep

A poem inspired by Wu-Tang Clan's song of the same title.

I can't go to sleep

I can't shut my eyes

I see the blood of times

Under my eyes

Killing of knowledge

Wrapped in mental bondage

We've been raped and pillaged

Sold and enslaved

Told we better be behaved

Or we'll be waived

To the back of the line

To watch civilization decline

The downfall of the divine

Lost to the darkness

The void is endless

In the land of the loveless

Babies dying, I can't go to sleep

Mothers killing, I can't go to sleep

Fathers running, I can't go to sleep

Poor getting poorer, I can't go to sleep

Families on the street, I can't go to sleep

Change is needed, I can't go to sleep

S**t is real, I can't go to sleep

What should I do

Grab a gun like they do

And spread some violence like you

Get drunk

And put myself into a funk

Or get drunk

And spread violence

And tip the balance

In the absence of conscience

What should I do
