The Day You Gave Me A Son

The Day You Gave Me A Son

A Poem by Jeff
"

The happiest day of my life.

"

The longest day of my life.

Was the happiest day I've ever had.

We waited all day for our son.

I paced across the floor.

You sat and waited it out.

The minutes turned to hours.

Then your face started to turn red.

And you started to feel like it was time.

The nurses and the doctor arrived.

I held your hand and stood by your side.

It happened so quick and our son was born.

I've never felt so much joy and wonder in my life.

And I loved you more that day then I'll ever love anyone else.

The day you gave me a son.

I can relate to that although in my day the husband was promptly sent on his way as superfluous to requirements.
