Whisky River Blues

Whisky River Blues

A Poem by Jeff
"

This kind of happened to me years ago and I had an idea to write about this morning. I thought it'd be fun and I enjoyed it. Kind of countryish.

"

I tried to make you fall in love with me

Over a few drinks and a few corny jokes

But you weren’t having any of me

You said I belonged to another

Who long ran away

A long lost lover

I had no desire to return to

I only wanted one in my bed

And it was you

Who I wanted in my arms

It couldn’t be

You resisted my every charm

Standing there in the rain

You held my hand

And tried to explain

Why you resisted my kiss

You kept saying

You couldn’t do this

I said you could

You were having none of me

We were soaking, we stood

My ego bruised

You looking away

Me with the Whiskey River Blues
