Death

Death

A Poem by Jeff

Death is sitting behind me

Watching me

Waiting for me to make a mistake

Death already has a grip on my body

An abnormal growth

Is creeping through my body

Life is like chess

A game with mortal stakes

Played down to the last move

If Death wants me

Death will have to fight me

Down to the very last breath

My father is a chronic cancer survivor. If he had to say something on his life, it would be just these words. Every line is stark yet full of insight.

Thank you sir for such a motivating and encouraging write giving strength and will to all who read it.
