Sonnet 34

Sonnet 34

A Poem by Jeff Miller

My soul mate, I miss your beautiful face

And I want to take my finger and trace

The outline of what keeps my life in place

You make me think that I’m in God’s good grace.

“Tis the melodious sound of your breath

And also the sound of your beating heart

Are the only sounds that keep me from death

You’ve been my only reason from the start.

But, you are three hundred miles away,

Now so far away are those hazel eyes,

Now the brightness has faded from my days,

And now thunder clouds have filled my mental sky.

You are the reason for my existence

That can’t be changed, no matter the distance.
