Sonnet 29

Sonnet 29

A Poem by Jeff Miller

It has only been one very long day

But it has felt like an eternity

Since they took you, my cherubin, away,

Since I have felt your body against me.

It has been torture, keeping us apart,

Stripping all forms of communication,

Revealing our bare souls and beating hearts,

And this "lesson" is an irritation.

Alas, this did not teach me anything,

I already knew I did not want to

Live a day without you, I am no king;

You reign over my heart and I love you.

  Hark! I will always need you in my life,

  And I pray one day you will be my wife.
