Sonnet 21

Sonnet 21

A Poem by Jeff Miller

My fair Sarah, ruler over my heart

I want to give you a promise, my word

That there won’t come a time we’re apart

I’ll try to reinvent what you’ve heard.

Alas, I speak to you in verity

I will follow you wherever you go,

For you gave my beating heart charity,

For you said yes, when you could have said no.

Oh, my foolish Jeff, please listen to me

For you’re the melody to my heart’s song

And I shall never see what your eyes see

Because, love, you have the story all wrong.

Baby, it is you I do not deserve,

But, I shall make our love always preserve.
