Sonnet 20 (Shakespearean Style)

Sonnet 20 (Shakespearean Style)

A Poem by Jeff Miller

If I could ask God to do me one thing

My one favor would be to stop the moon;

This would prevent what only time would bring

And we wouldn't feel the heat of high noon.

So that I could always see your fair form,

And the only heat felt would be our flame,

Alas, our love is a passionate storm,

Always hearing the echo of your name.

You're the cause of the smile on my face

And I wish that God would grant your favor;

I would never have to move from this place

And never stop our loving behavior.

  I wish we could love for eternity

  And Death wouldn't separate me from thee.

The first 8 lines are my words and then the next 6 are the reply, just like in Sonnets 18 and 19.
