Sonnet 6 (Shakespearean Style)

Sonnet 6 (Shakespearean Style)

A Poem by Jeff Miller

Alas, lately sleep tends to elude me

Thoughts and visions of you dance in my mind

Once my eyes close you are all I can see,

The memories are of a gentle kind.

I cannot sleep without you by my side

Beside me is where your body belongs

Hark! With you is where my heart shall reside’

Your gentle intake breath is the best song;

But, I realize this can’t always be

Although I know it is not truly just

Alas, it shan’t matter how much we plea

For a while, your parents, we must trust

  But one joyous day you shall be my bride

  The day you can always be by my side!
