Sarah Sonnet 5

Sarah Sonnet 5

A Poem by Jeff Miller

For you I have a strong predilection

My life without you is meager

You are the epitome of perfection

When you enter a room my heart gets eager

My pulse beats faster than the rhythm of a tribal dance

I begin to uncontrollably palpitate

Your eyes put me in a trance

I know we shall never separate

I stare at you and gather in your beauty

I watch your actions, listen to your words

Even as a kid I never thought girls had cooties

They’re the best words I ever heard

When you aren’t around my lungs feel constricted

So…I must confess. I’m addicted.

Please don't look for meter. I think it's cool if you wanna do that...but poetry is releasing what's in your mind, your heart, and your soul. And I don't think you should be confined to a syllable count.
