One Step At a Time

One Step At a Time

A Poem by Jeff Miller

If one can fall in love
Is it possible to fall out of love?
Or will it stay forever
Like an unwavering fever?
If someone is your all
Does that make everyone else your nothing?
Don't you hate it when they make you fall?
Because they might not catch you, and leave you hard of breathing.
Perhaps you need to tie your laces better
So you won't send them that dumb love letter
That one note changed everything
After reading it, she went off sprinting
It doesn't matter my pace
Of this never ending race
I'll never catch her
And that was my deepest fear
One choice can change a life
And leave your back with the feel of a knife
When all hope is lost
And you're no longer the boss
You have to keep trudging through
Because you never know what's waiting for you...

how do you know you wrote it ten days away from being 16

This is amazing! Especially for the age it was written at. It has depressing parts, but with redeemable joy as well! Way to have an optimistic attitude in a pessimistic time!
