First Light

First Light

A Poem by JediMobius

For the first time I knew the difference between light and dark
what I thought I could see was only the edges of the shadow
once removed, the day-dream veil became so useless
the light that causes us to burn will hurt until the flaws are forged away

I had a taste
and it was enough to keep me planted in the truth
within the quest I seek with the fullest of my heart
not a drop of me will rest

I have replaced
the very thought that I know well enough to do
all that needs to be done from the finish to the start
I’ve failed my own pathetic quest

So now I’m free
of the impossibilities I set up for myself to fail
I laughed at everyone from behind my hubris walls
the echoes I sent out come crash into my ears
and it’s a beautiful sound
to know that I was never perfect
so now I’m closer to perfection
the lowest trampled love

This almost seemed like the first whispered words of a novel, setting the stage for what has been... and what miraculous events lie in the pages just beyond. Remarkable.
