Things to be rememberedA Poem by Robert LunaThis is my valentine poem for my wife. This is my memory of the night I told her I loved her for the first time.
Her tears ran white against ivory flections of her skin Moonlight’s capturing of reflective silhouettes A beautiful contrast of white on white Her lips parted with the intent to speak but the words remained forgotten whispers Her silences said it all
In the morning we'll mourn the passing of this moment The fleeting intercourse of our minds As words entangle within Two parts becoming one In the wake of all that has been said I’m nervous Exposed and naked
The smell of cold, steals my breath Steel-eyed glares of a million stars play witness But this night has just begun Wanting to write out the words But I can’t remember all that I wanted to say I told myself to hold on to these moments before they pass us by
There’s reason to believe we’ll be able to get past the past The failed attempts to find happiness It’s what her eyes say that words could never convey The way she looks at me Seeing a man that wants her to be his everything
