Things to be remembered

Things to be remembered

A Poem by Robert Luna
"

This is my valentine poem for my wife. This is my memory of the night I told her I loved her for the first time.

"

Her tears ran white against ivory flections of her skin

Moonlight’s capturing of reflective silhouettes

A beautiful contrast of white on white

Her lips parted with the intent to speak

but the words remained forgotten whispers

Her silences said it all

In the morning we'll mourn the passing of this moment

The fleeting intercourse of our minds

As words entangle within

Two parts becoming one

In the wake of all that has been said

I’m nervous

Exposed and naked

The smell of cold, steals my breath

Steel-eyed glares of a million stars play witness

But this night has just begun

Wanting to write out the words

But I can’t remember all that I wanted to say

I told myself to hold on to these moments

before they pass us by

There’s reason to believe we’ll be able to get past the past

The failed attempts to find happiness

It’s what her eyes say

that words could never convey

The way she looks at me

Seeing a man that wants her to be his everything

Beautiful! You are both lucky to have each other. Her to have a man who feels this way about her, and you that you have a woman who makes you feel like this. I envy you both my friend.
This picture you paint with words is perfection, just as the words you chose are as well.

Seeing a man that wants her to be his everything

That one line says it all. That one little line at the very end of the piece is the real heart of your words.

True beauty of your love is shown inside these words.

This is lovely. It's genuinely emotive and says so much. I particularly like the last stanza, it really resonated with me, Thanks for sharing :)

Realizing that one is to lose what one gains; somewhere between happy and sad.

This is beautiful...and the emotions are familiar, and you paint them with ease. It never is easy getting those words out the first time..I wonder why that is. We can say it in regards to movies, books, music...teachers, children, parents...but the one...when the one comes along and knocks us back, out of breath, it takes everything we have to not become a drooling idiot....

I like this. I love the last stanza...please tell me you showed this to her.

What a perfect poem and a wonderful tribute to both her and your love for her. There is nothing else to say. You've said it all and quite beautifully too.

What a lovely flowing thing of beauty this is. The tears convey the joy your words must have brought her.while speechlessly she let her eyes speak the words her mouth could not form. What a compelling write and lovely tribute to the woman who brought forth such powerful emotion.
