Here Comes The Rain

Here Comes The Rain

A Poem by Robert Luna
"

Cross between a dream or nightmare and my interpretation of it. I hope you enjoy

"
The Earths quivering heaps
silently cracked standing still
my heart laid dormant
preparing for a storm
Sleeping the sleep of the justified
but I havent slept in days
and no rest in sight
Translation of dark emerald grey
Fold and fall away
Morpheuss lips drip wet
Upon his
Painfully passionate kiss

Embracing the darkness
As it chases the loneliness
of the light away
Falling deeper into dreams
Wishing to never awake

Sweet whispers speak

"Hold on to me
child of a mothers
loveless love
Together we will fall
into a bottomless pit
Where we will
continuously drift the rift of time"

Empty souls join
Embodying danger

"Give yourself to me
Let yourself dream
I have such wonderful
Nightmares to bring

Sleepsleep...just sleep
Maybe tonight I will take pity
upon your sleepless soul
Give you a chance at rest
Before I make you awake
with nightmarish screams
As you swing nicotine stained fists
at imaginary beasts

But you must sleeeeeep
So I can come out to play
Dark creature intertwine
Wooing in the pain of your mind
I will continue to
Talk sweetly in your ear
to remove your fears
Give you hope once again
This time you could win
Spin my beautiful lies
As I steal your life
Before the light of a new day
Chases me away"

Such a scary dream to have, I can only imagine how a dream such as this would make me feel. It's beautifully written, so much so that it's easy to get lost in the words. As Brenda mentioned it does bring to mind depression but also of conflict. It almost as if there is a struggle to be free of something that feels bigger than you. I can definitely relate to that because I feel that way now and then too. How terrifying and helpless it leaves us and even worse, so vulnerable. Great writing, Robert you really took us there with you.

Man I tried to pick a quote that i really liked out of this piece but there were so many I couldn't fathom picking just one. Amazing as always. The restless sleep that nightmares and vivid dreams bring is so frustration when sleep is hard to come by. I feel and live this frustration. Well done.

Oh, Robert what a disturbing lullaby but it lured me deep into dark mazes, following whatever lost hope for all those things we desperately seek in our daylight hours. I haven't been able to read as much as I want lately but this, well this, hit me hard.

Amazing stuff.

My favorite lines are:

Embracing the darkness
As it chases the loneliness
of the light away

These lines contain so much unrevealed potential ...

To me this dream (if ever really dreamt) is all about forgiveness. I think it shows that the dreamer has still something on his conscience that he hasn't forgiven himself as also things he/she hasn't forgiven his/her parents or one of them.

This is wonderfully done. All of those fantastic and surreal images it provokes are grandiose!
I love this piece immensely!

wow - I'm thinking ...nightmare....or worse - nightmare that becomes a dream in the light of day. With this in ones mind - how can one sleep at all????? Demons sometimes sit in the corners of our minds - awaiting for the sun to set - to pounce upon our unprotected minds. a very haunting piece this is - very nicely done.

So, you took the title of a pre-existing song, and gave it as a title of a poem you wrote based on a dream?

Love the way there is almost something demonic here in your description of the lack of sleep. I've found when I was dosed heavily with painkillers that not sleeping and going through the daytime those visions were close to being apparent all the time. There always appeared to be 'something' there.
Maybe the basic human intention of getting cosily wrapped up around another body at night-time is really for protection so sleep comes down......

Oh! This is quite scary but somehow I can relate...it's kind of like being between a rock and a hard place...damned if you sleep, damned if you don't! Amazing word use, my friend...Much luv :)

Dreams sometimes freak me out ... I like the way you've captured this feeling of the dream. It seems very real and very alive.

Like the thin line between love and hate so can there be one between dream and nightmare as sometimes they converge upon each other which conveys what life is across between good and bad... your words speak so passionately what life is truly like.
