Shades Of Grey

Shades Of Grey

A Poem by Robert Luna
"

No description needed

"
I am a halfbreed
man and ghostly being
Appearing alive
but traveling in the world of the dead

As thousands of unheard voices
scream Help Me
Filling my dreams
with horrifying and haunting scenes
Things I wish I had never seen

Is this a blessing or a curse
That is yet to be seen

This world is not black and white
as I know
I dwell in lonely shades of gray
That place between what is seen
and those things that fill your dreams

As I wonder why me
I lack what others call
Traditional faith
Believing in destiny and fate

But yet night after night
day after day
I am plagued
Seeing ghostly things

So you can call me a freak
Even a liar if you choose
but this is my cross to bear
I wouldnt wish this on any of you

This is a seriously introspective work. Your sense of expression is always dynamic. I am tired, so articulation for me is at a minimum, but I wanted to say that I relate to much of what you wrote about yourself... although I stopped asking why a long time ago. Thank you for these thoughts. Something to meditate on.

Hmm. Was not expecting this from the title which by the way I love. I like the energy this was written with and the conviction of your own words. Must say very interesting to say the least.

I would never call you a freak. It is your heart that defines you and your past is undeniably a part of you just like mine is part of who I am. If you live in a gray world then I want to live there also because you are true to yourself even when it is hard, never selling yourself short for no one, most of all you. This is the price paid for standing in an all too cruel world, it waits to break us and wear us down little by little. I see you as a tower of strength to so many, Robert. It is my hope that you will find a little encouragement in these words, as I find strength in yours.

I came back to say that the way you italicized and used red with "Help me" delivers so much extra emphasis and power to your message and that was a brilliant choice. It comes off as a quiet and desperate scream. Excellent.

This is such a powerfully exposing piece. Leaving yourself open to be seen by strangers and critics. Who may not understand the truth of your words and the way you have left yourself open for others to see the real you.

Many people don't believe in vampires, but I do. Does this believe that I believe in human looking beings who fly through the night, drinking blood? No. Does it mean that I have anything beyond minuscule respect from the "Goth Scene" or the little, one dimensional, delusional, make-up, black-clad d*****s who follow it? Not a chance. What I do believe in are people who, no matter how hard they try, can't fit in, much in the same way a vampire can neither fit into the realm of the living nor the realm of the dead. What I do believe in are people whose words are so powerful that they continue haunting others long after they are dead, much in the same way a vampire keeps on living after death. Perhaps you are one of these people, Mr. Luna.

Man this is cool. I was going to write a song years ago called "Shades of Gray" using the line "There is no black. There is no white. Only shades of gray." Like minds I guess. Greyt write.
