Goodbye

Goodbye

A Poem by Robert Luna
"

This is Dedicated to my Ex-wife and our last conversation. I hope you enjoy.

"
Tasting your fear in the air
descending into madness
you ask me to repeat my name
as you trace all my scars
tormented by your touch
and this twisted game you play

Asking me to draw you a perfect life
but Im not an artist
Im a f*****g work of art
watching with closed eyes
as you chase your demigods
and gutter dreams

I dont care if your world ends today
I wasnt invited any way
just dont say goodbye
well see one another in the afterlife

I wasnt the one that nailed Christ to that cross
But you look at me as if I killed your savior
Drinking your hate and hatred
cups of liquid fire
You stare back me
asking
to kiss it and make it all better
heal these wounded hearts of ours
We both have gone too far
to ever come back together

Screaming your I love yous
as they fall of deafened ears
seeing you as just one more mistake
a lesson learned
as you left me with a scar
that can never forgive
and will never begin to forget.

Wow... Such passion in this write. Really a wonderful work of art. Your words are powerful. I feel the intensity of the picture you portray so vividly. Wonderful ... I keep saying that about your art, but I need to learn more accolades. LOL Thank you for the works you share.

----loved those lines!

These words sound a bit angry but powerfully expressed - Great Write.

What emotion - vivid and decisively familar to me - I can empathize with where you are coming from having been through a divorce myself. I see that you were at the end - had nothing left to give back and it sounds as if that was the right path to take. Thank you for sharing such a personal moment. Great, passionate write.

I think you have captured the power of the ending of something that was not healthy and was eventually going to kill you it would seem.

Well Robert, I can't in all honesty say that I enjoyed this because of the pain contained in all stanzas, but you have written a magnificent poem stating the many emotions that wash over people in hostile separation. I have found that most of these words are designed to dig deep and later may be thought about in regret. I hope so Robert because I would not want you festering under that volume of hatred. Well expressed...
Good solid writing, just sad it is non-fiction, but true life definately gives us fodder for inspiration...
Cheers, Helen :-)

This is the rant of all rants, and I mean that as a compliment.....wow, the fury in this is awesome, and the pic of a snuffed-out candle reinforces it....incredibly strong write, here, Robert.

I knew it would be this emotional. Just from what I knew. Fitting conversation for an ending. It says all the things we wish to say when we say good bye but just can't think of at the time. Excellent writing.

'As you left me with a scar' is the best line for me in the strong expression of total resignation to 'it's over'. I also like 'cups of liquid fire' and 'these wounded hearts of ours'. Millions of people will know precisely the feelings you nail down so well here. I am relatively scar free, thankfully, but that might mean I've not experienced the emotional range that many have. To read about strong passions in poetry expands the indirect experience of life of those who have not lived as full on as a passionate poet. So I did enjoy this for it's raw honesty. There is a real feel of that final moment here.
