I am alive

I am alive

A Story by JeanneC

I am alive, I am alive. Today, I walked back to my car and my eyes caught up with two squirrels happily playing hide and seek on a tree, jumping, bumping, knocking. And I stood there watching, laughing, just being there, enjoying this moment, a bit spying on nature, seeing what we normally pass by so easily, without even noticing. I am alive, I am alive. I feel free and light when I drove down the mountain back home, alone, music on, looking at the moutains growing out of the clouds, slightly snowy, gently softened by the light of the morning sun. Just enjoying this feeling of being alone, forgetting the world, the time, the place. I am alive, I am alive. My heart felt full when I went to pick up my son. When he ran towards me and we hugged and kissed and laughted as there was no tomorrow, just the now. Because I realised that life is in all these moments. Because life is as simple as a laugh, a cuddle or a moment. Because if one day someone decides that it is ok to take my life for any reason that he feels right, I want this day not to have any regrets of what I should have been, what I should have done, what I should have said. Because today people can take your life any time, any place, without notice, just like a lightning strike; because I don't know what tomorrow will bring or will be; because chaos is there, every where; because of all this, and more than ever, I have to live my life, by the day, so that when they decide to strike, at least, they would neither get my dreams nor my life as they would have, to this point, already been fully lived.

Author's Note

JeanneC
This is the first time I try myself to write about what I feel. I would just appreciate comments to see if it is readable and if I can express properly what I try to say. Thanks for any replies. 😀
