"The Archer's Bow"

"The Archer's Bow"

A Poem by Jeanne Broome

"The Archer's Bow"

The Archer's Bow is sometimes off,

When arrows he does throw,

When targeting your true loves heart,

 He'll sometimes turn the bow.

Cupid is an awful aim,

He targets Human Hearts..

He may pierce the Maidens,

The Lads may miss the mark.

Then it starts...you don't know why,

You worry night and day,

You see my friend your losing him,

It always works that way.

Love is fine..but it hurts too much,

The price you pay is high,

If I could choose between life and death,

I think I'd rather die.

So when I say,"Don't fall in Love!"

You'll be hurt before it's through,

You see my friend...I ought to know,

I fell in Love with you.

Normally I don't care for such fare with the simplistic rhyme scheme and wording, but this worked well to its advantage. And the end was an unexpected twist. Well done. Two thumbs up.

I inferred from this poem, that you are unsure about love.
But all in all you did well.
