"SWEET BABY MINE"

"SWEET BABY MINE"

A Poem by Jeanne Broome

" Sweet Baby Mine"

I kissed your pouty baby lips

a million times or so,

I smelled your sweet, sweet baby skin,

and kissed your little nose.

I held you tightly in my arms and

rocked you fast asleep,

I held you till you woke again...

but only in my Dreams.

I remember your sweet baby face,

the dimple in your chin,

How beautiful you are to me,

but I'll never see you again.

So everyday I pray to God,

to keep you safe and cloaked,

that your heart be filled with love,

and never would be broke.

I love you little baby mine,

within my heart I know,

though you're not here within my arms,

I never let you go.

I blessed a mom who had no child,

who'll love you just like me,

 they'll give you what I couldn't give...

a two parent family.

So though it's hard without you here,

within my arms to hold,

I'm blessed to know God gave you dear,

Two Parents who are Gold.

So maybe someday you'll want to know,

the mother who loved you so...

to prove it ...did the right thing for you,

...I had to let you go.

I will always love you...

This poem really stirs the emotions, pulling at the heartstrings. It has such beauty to it, and such sorrow...I wept. I suppose, in the end, the moral would be that you felt such great love towards your son that you let him go, so he could have a life you couldn't provide for him. A very noble act, and yet a very sad one; one of the greatest sacrifices one can make for love. Very well written.
