Fangirl Communication

Have you ever thought about that squeal fangirls make when ever they see some variation of anime or manga? That is a secret way that fangirls communicate.
The origin of the fangirl squeals date back to the beginning of yaoi, most likely the late 70's. [Yaoi is the art of boy love (ie. Yaoi Story).]
Usually, the "fangirl squeal" is a very high pitched, whiny noise. The squeal usually signifies how amazing the anime/manga is. The louder means the most awesome. There are certain pitches of this squeal (usually used at conventions.[ ie. METROCON]) that is like a calling to all other fangirls, it can be heard in a radius of several miles.  Once this call is sent out, many fangirls will find the source of this squeal and join in on what ever is going on.
The fangirl squeal is commonly associated with yaoi, more than any other form of anime/manga. Here is one reason for the squeal: click here
