AgainA Poem by JB Esquirea common story of intimate proportions
Again
Away she went
In the form of dissent
Cutting herself off of all
Her losses before she knew
They existed
The quiet mind behind her eyes
Was in silent turmoil between
Her two loves
That she kept near her
Sides
Then the day came
Wherein she said to the one
You’re no more fun
I’m letting go please don’t cry
I don’t love you like I love my ham on rye
You haven’t offered me want I want and
Now I’m already in love with another guy
She explained she’d already lost hope
Though nope she never mentioned
That this was coming and all the while
Silent in her decision to silence her
Heart from the feelings that had begun to
Start yet still acting as though
They weren’t yet apart
Clueless the lover was
Lost in his own cause
Living for them in a silent stance
Growing up and relearning to dance
The boogie of love when in the arms of his dove
Which she was
So her silence hadn’t startled him and
Forced him to give in like most women ask of men
When time comes to meet with the idea
That we should be in love
By now in our connection
Their casualness of it all
Had prevented a fall
Down head over heals attempt
At a committed love between them
All due to the girl who never wept
And the lover who was lost
When she replaced her lover with that of a loving friend
Who’d been waiting by her side poised to move right in
He protested and pled his love
That he too had been silent and
Had wanted without abatement
For the nerve to tell himself to her that his love was deep
And would she like to hold her breath and see
For herself how deep she could allow herself to swim
In the passion that lay before them
Would she consider what he had to offer
Now that he had come clean
And released his feelings that had been hidden within
When she had not told him that her feelings
Had stopped by force of some clock in the threshold of time
That passed briskly in their casualness
Of complete togetherness
Confused she knew not what to do
Here she had two men
Wanting to be with both of them
Loving each for their own reason
And afraid of losing either one of ‘em
And so it went
She had a dream
Her life passed by and in the end she came to cry
She had lost all the loves of her life
Some just puppies
Others deeper within
‘Cause her inability to talk openly with them
Had prevented any
From shining like a brightly colored gem
The lover scorned
Felling lost yet again
Waited for her to reunite with him
And cried his sorrow out till the dawn came again
And again
