Crow

Crow

A Poem by Jazz
"

The idea for this poem suddenly hit me whilst I was shopping yesterday...it was one of those "Eureka!" moments where I had to buy a notebook and go and find a quiet coffee shop to write it in

"

The wind howled at the sound of his heart’s last beat

And the darkened sky cried and refused to cease

Both screamed at villains and God, His ‘love’ and deceit;

     Both angered by his sudden earthly release.

Suddenly, there was a pained and panicked caw

And into this scene of utter despair

 A bedraggled crow flew in, landed on the floor;

In its ebony wing a terrible tear.

 It stumbled to the bed-side chair in which she sat

And even her loss could not suppress a laugh

   As it nestled at her feet - a loyal cat! -

And ambled up her heart’s hardened path.

So into her arms she welcomed this lone beast,

Unearthly vehicle for the deceased.

Author's Note

Jazz
It doesn't follow the conventions of 10-syllable, iambic pentameter the whole way through. Few sonnets do though. Enjoy! :)
