The Forgotten Child

The Forgotten Child

A Poem by Jazz
"

This poem is partly autobiographical. I hope it shows that no one has to be a victim of Destiny. Life is what you make it.

"

A living, breathing reminder of a youth that was defiled,

Cast in the shadows, a dirty secret was the forgotten child.

It seems inconceivable to fight the condemnation of Destiny

Yet this is what the child did, valorously and endlessly.

Over heartless Destiny did this unwanted child prevail,

Refusing to live a life of lies behind Shame’s darkened veil.

I loved this write, and I remember that I used to be there. So dark, and filled with imagery.
Well done.

I loved the way all of your words blending together and rolled off my tongue. "It seems inconceivable to fight the condemnation of Destiny.." Amazing! Very powerful read here.

A very bold statement of emergence. I know one of these forgotten children quite intimately and they are the most brilliantly shining stars. Unwise men prevail in a coincidentally unwise place, unfortunately. One piece of advice that my intimate friend rides on is "know what is going on around you,"; a piece of advice given from her father.
