From The Day We First Met

From The Day We First Met

A Poem by Jazz
"

My best friend.. He's like my other half!

"

You're part of me, my heart and soul

The joy in my life I'll always dearly hold

I don't want this to be just a dream

See, I love you with all I'll ever be

From the day we first met

I had a strange yet good feeling

That we'd be the best of friends

It's something God was revealing

You're the best of the best

Second closest to my heart

It's now a big test

Only to find us a million miles apart

I have to stay strong in this time

Going through this path

It's worth the climb

And it doesn't take tons of math

To find this to be true

Best friend, I'll always love you

It's highly untrue

Since my days are shiny and blue

That you'd go a day without knowing

All that I am undergoing

Though you still smile

Passing my life as though it wasn't a junk pile

And see me more than who I put out to be

You don't see me as a waste

But as someone who is misplaced

Though I know not much of what you think

I could be off, it's not like I'm a shrink

But I do know your sense of humor

And what makes you sad

I take caution of my words

So you don't end up mad

I care about what makes you feel a certain way

It's worth it to me, every day

It may not seem like much to most

But I find it as a fascinating way for friends to come close

That's what I find in you as we go about our days and talk

A friend, who doesn't carry or collect my sins

But instead forgives, and goes about with a patient walk
