The Cost of Not KnowingA Poem by Jeremiah Medina
I deceive the monster
In creations of pure disgust I invoke the laws of nothing I am not the only one. I feel the eyes of sorrow From the creatures I encounter And every single unhappy moment Of lives that never mattered. Pity the evil, this presence That nothing has a meaning And terrible assumptions of What they know to be. I despise the mindless beings Who consume without a thought The parasitic demons who Take and never try to stop. They will keep consuming Until the rest is gone And while destruction Is the outcome The vile can never be taught. I envision a peaceful eden A beautiful picture of life Not defiled by superstition Or ruined by religious sight. Happiness is all that matters In this land of make believe Hatred and despair Could never desecrate this place. Salvation is made clear In many different expressions Though taken in by so few The thoughts of death embrace us. Waiting helplessly For an answer or a clue But insight and enlightenment Never sparked the truth. © 2008 Jeremiah MedinaReviews
