Still Quicksand

Still Quicksand

A Poem by Just Jayren

This is no mere Arabian landscape

because golden earth can be seen

with much discussion of appreciation.

I feel stuck in beautiful quicksand.

Easily be vacuumed into my demise,

or some chance of a patient rescue.

Taking deep, considerable breaths.

I just don’t know what to do.

I just don’t know what to do.

She wishes that beyond all recognition

that my feelings, and strong feelings

they are, were nonexistent.

But I just can’t give up, not until

obesity and opera combine.

I. I... don’t know whether to admit

defeat and say she’s not going to be mine.

Or pursue, just because I’m so

close to falling for you right now, it

can make me insane.

great work, but i am sure if you have seen the arabian desert in summer, you would never say that it is beautiful!

Interesting view, there is nothing worse than unrequited love.

i think the image of obesity and opera combing is the same thing like when pigs fly. has reservations about pursuing his quarry now, but he's too hesitant it's driving him mad. he stresses out over the littlest things. this takes the cake. great poem.

I love the "obesity and opera combine"... A lesson here is to love if it's what you feel.. You can't sacrifice your heart for anyone..it is what it is.. They will follow if they are willing and able to see your inner light..xx

Oh how you thrilled me with this pairing "But I just can’t give up, not until
obesity and opera combine." What a creative way to suggest until the end, when the fat lady sings! A line so good I wished I had thought of it! good write through out but that stood alone as the brightes spot

Love does make you insane.... But it also brings you solace and sanity. It is always a rocky road to love. To pursue can come with the benefit of love yet to pursue when love is obviously unrequited can bring a torturous fate for the one who pursues... A nicely written poem full of doubt and yearning. My two cents, always be honest, let her know exactly what is on your mind, lay all your cards on the table. If she doesn't feel the same, you must move on. No matter how much it hurts because believe me it hurts worse the further you go into a love that is not returned. It can make you bitter. You are worth more than that. Know your worth. Show your confidence yet show that you too can be vulnerable and maybe things will work themselves out. I am no expert but I have been through much in love and loss. Good luck.
Sincerely,
Priscilla

I like the description in this poem. Allow me to ponder the thoughts and the desire of this poem. Something are hard to grasp and hold on to. I did like the question at the end of this poem. Thank you for a excellent poem.
