Inescapable

Inescapable

A Poem by Just Jayren

Warped by a historical context

My mind shackled and tormented

Wrapping myself in my own arms

trying to console my memories

trying to consult the hazy comfort

desperately trying to smash through a glass ceiling

The pathological remnants of a parade

soaked in a storm of despair

slowly decaying to the sound of faint war drums

I remember seeing my reflection in those eyes

as the tears willingly trickled down the face I fell in love with

I never knew I could clench my fists so tight

The laborious nature of closure

standing over my fractured body

openly mocking my aspiration bellowing

“We will never be acquainted”

Elegantly told tall tales

In an all-out war with closure

embrace me with a savoury demeanour

playing it’s dusty reel on the brick walls surrounding me

Time

All I need is time

Closure is hard. Some people are permanent scars we maintain forever. The above lines took the reader to a dark place where we can fall or gain strength. No weakness in the amazing poetry.
